Well, I'd like to be able to ditch the main KeyPad at least in the hall
and the DLT with this unit.

So if I cant emulate keypad presses, then mebe the CTouch is my only
option for that. I could use these screens elsewhere but not for anything
clever.

Comfort->UCM->xAP connector->cheap PC->touchscreen

Not sure I fully understand what you mean about the sign in codes,
Gareth? In my scenario the touchscreen app is going to need to be a
little smart (xAP floorplan, or perhaps a simple VB app?). IIRC its
not possible to emulate the keypad functionality press-for-press over
the UCM, but you wouldn't want to (you presumably want to dispense
with voice prompts completely). With a little bit of intelligence in
the frontend you should be fine, though.
