I don't actually use the netgem to access the internet (except for
software updates).
Its only used to access 'local' web pages, to control MP3 playback,
lights, tivo etc.

I think the netgem has great HA potential. With a programmable remote it
can act as a IR to HTTP gateway/proxy device, meaning I can control non
IR enabled devices:

IR Remote --> netgem --> http --> homeseer/misterhouse -->
X10/etc

Nope, just the free channels.
