Hooray :o)

I have now managed to solve the problem.

I did wonder if I was missing something obvious..........and i was !!!

I didn't notice, that intwined inside each of the cables.....was
another cable wrapped in a plastic sheath. Armed with this knowledge it
was now a simple matter to splice an end on and enjoy a wonderful S-
video picture and a lovely intact skirting board
