Or how about ordinary PIR's connected to a Phaedrus net-viom and xAP
X-10 connector? It might be more cost effective because you can
connect multiple PIRs to a single net-viom, but this does assume that
you are OK with having a 24x7 PC at the hub of things.

PS. If you use ordinary PIR's, disable the alarm false-trigger
detection - the response time for activation will then be much shorter.
