Hi Chris

The Daikin units have an interface available that will allow remote
start/stop and setpoint control on each indoor unit (KRP4 interface IIRC).
The only problem is that the setpoint control uses an old resistance
standard which is pretty much obsolete in todays controls world, so it does
take a bit more work. Smartkontrols have designed and built their own
interface for this and have numerous installations throughout the UK
controlling Daikin systems that work in this way. Using a similar approach
they also have interfaces for the Mitsubishi City Multi system which has
the
benefit of only requiring a 2 pipe connection while still allowing
simultaneous heating and cooling. BTW I also need to mention that I worked
for smartkontrols and am now their Scottish agent, and worked with
Mitsubishi to help get the City Multi interface working successfully. If
you've any questions about this then just ask :-)

Subject: [ukha_d] Automation of air conditioning

Hi,

I am about to have installed a whole house (1 unit per room)
heating/cooling

air conditioning system in our house (i.e no radiators). The current front
running manufacturer is Daikin BTW. I was wondering if anyone has ever
automated a set up like this. Essentially telling 8 or so units what to do
and when to do it rather than relying on their own thermostats/timers. I am
also thinking about potential smart Kontrols integration too.

Any ideas / suggestions /pointers ?

Chris
