Posted this before, probably a couple of years ago.

We're custom installers/retailers and we did a test where we installed a
whole bunch of ceiling speakers into the ceiling of a room that was
going to be refurbished, and got customers, staff, postman, etc., to
listen to them and choose which they preferred. We had Sonance,
Speakercraft, KEF and three or four other brands, and selected speakers
that sat at similar price levels.

The results were extremely consistent, with KEF being the favourites by
far (these were the Ci160QRs) and we've used loads of them ever since
and have been very pleased with the performance, as hopefully have been
the clients.

Single speakers are fine for smaller areas. A stereo/mono speaker with
two high frequency drivers and a bass driver in a single enclosure would
be best, if you can't do that then combine the stereo into mono and send
that to a single conventional speaker, last and least favourite option
is to have a single speaker and only hear one half of the stereo image
(perhaps having to wander through to another room to hear the other
half).

How many ceiling speakers should I put in a room - 1 or 2?

The rooms are not very big - 2 bedrooms, kitchen and a bathroom - so
would one per room be enough??

Also, any make you can suggest

Cheers
