FOund a post in my archive...

"You use your Tiger MFSTools disk to boot a PC with the Tivo disk
attached (usual rules about master/slave apply) mount the tivo
partition, (I think its /dev/hdx6) (where "x" is the drive letter
of
your tivo disk as connected) and chmodt the /etc/rc.sysinit file back to
755"
