Who's listed as the admin contact ? If it's you, then you can most probably
get control fairly easily (unless the contact email also is hosted on the
account which has gone down).

If it's a .UK domain, then Nominet (www.nominet.org.uk) can transfer the
"TAG" to someone else for a =A315 fee.

If the domain's not been registered in your name, then you have a big
problem :(
