[OT] Useful laptop programs - Wireless

  • Subject: [OT] Useful laptop programs - Wireless

Dear all,

Got my new laptop .. working wonderfully .. :-)

Got some questions now though and seeking some advice.

I use it at home on my wireless connection, at my girlfriends on wireless
and at work.

Every single place has a different router address and I must have a
different IP address because of this.

Is there a program that can recognise the wireless network name and then
apply the relevant network settings for that area? OR must I change my
network settings every time I go somewhere different?

Plus do you guys have any software/hardware you run specifically on your
laptop that you cannot be without? I am especially looking for some
software
that can synchronise my files between home - laptop - work including emails
in outlook.

Any recommendations? Someone previously recommended I setup outlook on my
laptop to work in offline mode so when I get to work it will sync with out
exchange server? Will it cause any trouble with my work desktop computer?
i.e. How will it know what has preference in updating?

Going to buy a Bluetooth mouse tomorrow :-) Radtech Bt500 looks tiny so I
will probably get that.

Thanks,

Ho yin
