I had an IBM die a while back under warranty (about two years old). Sent
it back to holland and received a reconditioned replacement in return with
about 30 days warranty. This unit expired after about 40 days!! My policy
these days - if it fails then bin it. Warranty is more of an expectation
of disk life than a guarantee of a reliable replacement should the worst
happen. The only replacement worth having is a new unit in my humble
experience
