Varistors - help

I=92m buying a solenoid valve (24V) from RS along with a float switch to
co=
ntrol a water level in a holding tank in the loft =96 for water supply to
a=
n aquarium downstairs.

I=92ve been recommended to fit a varistor across the solenoid terminals
and=
float switch terminals.

Can anyone recommend what type of varistor I should use =96 and where?
