FWIW... I'm a relative newbie on the list, and have only posted a few
times. I love the friendly welcoming atmosphere here, and that is no
doubt in part due to the relaxed moderation of the list. However, that
said, I too find it frustrating sometimes wading through reams of OT
stuff.

Perhaps a "soft moderation" approach is in order; let go stuff
that's
vaguely interesting (albeit OT), but post a "mod reminder" when
things
get a bit carried away. Maybe suggest wildly-OT stuff is moved to the
AH forum?

Which perhaps brings up another point... <dons asbestos flamesuit>Why
keep this list and the forum? I know they're different, and each serve
a purpose, but there must be useful content on one or the other that
each community misses out on? Certainly, OT stuff is easier to find or
avoid on a forum than an email list...
