RE: LD11 without load to trigger X10 events?

The problem with the LD11 is that when you press the switch, no X10
event is sent out onto the mains, so if I understand your requirements
correctly, having an LD11 with no load connected would be pointless.

The new micromodules will transmit their status when they are controlled
- and something like the TMA4(?) will let you connect 4 switches up to
control 4 X10 devices, but I'm not sure how you'd achieve your master
on/off switch.

Yes - it's called C-Bus ;-)

Alternatively, if you have something like Comfort or HV, you could use a
switch connected to a TMA4 which triggers a macro to control your 4 X10
loads - but this is going to be quite slow.
