Unreal Media Server works great and is a looooot more stable than the
Microsoft
Windows Media Encoder. The client can be used from a browser too.

I use it day by day for TV streaming around the house and over the
internet.
Not a single crash for months now.
The strog point is that it works as a service (no need to be loged
on), the streaming start
only when the first client connects, so no processor load if no active
clients.
It can stream over unicast (even through HTTP) or multicast.

Best regards,
Dan
P.S. ... and you can use my little cgi script to change the TV
channels from any browser,
even from a Pocket PC device...;-)

It can be used with any encoder, including Windows Meda Player.
For the interested people I can provide a demo user account for the TV
frontend in order to
play with the channels.
