Yes, should be that simple. You will either have a dedicated
"uplink" port
on the router for connecting to the Switch or possibly a MIDI/MIDX push
button to enable the port as an uplink.
Having said all that most modern units can autosense their connection to a
switch and do it all for you. As a last resort you can use a crossover
cable
to connect the two.

Is it possible to extend the number of fixed ports on my Netgear Wireless
router by adding an additional switch off of one of the existing fixed
ports, and if so is it that simple? I am in the process of adding a number
of runs which I want to terminate in the loft and then run a single
connector to my office.
