My friend tried to add one to his PC.

The PC was pretty low spec P3 600 with 400mb of RAM. We used a PCI
Firewir=
e
Card as his PC did not have Firewire (and certainly not USB2.0)

We had tons of problem with it. It kept stopping on transfer, then
disappearing.=20=20

We tried several fixes including reducing the packet size and also some
weird thing in the System settings to turn his PC into a Simple PC.

Anyhow, we finally got it working, but it is pretty slow in transfer,
possibly because of PCI Firewire Card ?

Personally for the PC we tried it on, I can=92t recommend it, and I wish I=
=92d
just put an extra hard drive inside (there was space)

=20

It really depends on your PC specs I guess =85.

Hi,

I'm looking to add some storage space to my server. Since I don't really
have the space inside I'm debating getting a maxtor external usb/firewire
drive...

Has anyone got any experience of these, good or bad?

Thanks

Andy
