My boss has one (an 80Gb version); for him the big plus was the one-touch
backup, and the pretty blue light ;-)

You pay a premium for the one-touch feature though, and also because it's
Maxtor branded, though their drives are by no means the last word in
reliability; if you don't need either of those features, maybe something
from Lacie would do the same job, for less?  I have the 250GB USB Lacie,
and
it's fine, though the ventilation around the drive is non-existent, which
always worries me a bit.  It's not on 24/7, so I don't know how hot it
would
get.

Hi,

I'm looking to add some storage space to my server. Since I don't really
have the space inside I'm debating getting a maxtor external usb/firewire
drive...

Has anyone got any experience of these, good or bad?
