for Sims2 you might find you need a new graphics card too.  I had the same
dilemma just before Xmas (but for my 14 year old son!). I eventually went
with a suggestion received on here from Ho Yin - see below

This worked really well - I spent a bit more on graphics cards though.

thing I've had to do since buying them is add a case fan to keep temps down
a bit.

You might want to consider an AMD instead of an Intel though as articles
I've read since this suggest that their processors are better for gaming.
