My grandmother died on Christmas Day, but she was supplied with one of
those
(or a device very like it) for the last few weeks.

I don't know the situation where you are Jonathan but it might be
worthwhile
talking to Social Services - our local department has it's own monitoring
centre and there isn't a charge for the service (if Social Services deem it
to be required for the person's safety)
