Some of them block the change if you owe them more than £100 - and have
been
known to make it almost impossible to pay it off. I had this with an
online-only account - they took two weeks to answer any email which made it
very difficult. They blocked the switch twice. In the end I told them I
was moving. They wanted the money straight away then ;-)
