Don -

just to say that following your comment about Bluetooth & your
daughter's mobile', I bought a Belkin USB-Bluetooth adapter to add to
my wife's ancient PowerBook ... 'worked straight out of the box ...
no software loads, just plugged it, asked 'Help what to do ... linked
straight-away with wife's mobile phone ... no time at all ... magic !

'catch is, it seems, of course, I have to subscribe to GPRS if I want
to do this via her 'phone !
