Lots of charities will take your old phones for re-use or recycling. For
example:

Just don't put them in the bin!

'just wondered if there was a good HA use for old mobile-phones,
before I throw ours away !   A news-item in the 'paper today
mentioned that the people at Surrey University use bits from iPods &
DVD players in their satellites, so I guess there might be something
(other than terrorist bombs) ...
