RE: New Sonos Player

If you're using Airport via a P910, then I'm not surprised that your
girlfriend doesn't appreciate it! Think of Sonos as a multi-room iPod
solution, that can play something different in every room, or the same
stuff
everywhere, perfectly in sync. It really is very 'Apple like' in terms of
design and usability, and as Mark said, no PC required, just a NAS. The
only limit is the number of ZonePlayers you have, and therefore how deep
your pockets are! My one wish is for some sort of integration into
Homeseer, so that the PC can mute the music if the doorbell goes, or if
there's an announcement to be made to the house. Oh, and support for the
mainstream BBC radio stations would be nice.

This I did not need to hear.
I am currently using a Airport setup . it is a bit fiddly, pus I am
controlling it via my P910i.
I guess it is just a tiny bit too complicated for my girlfriend.
So does the Sonos use its own proprietary music juke box software? I take
it
that it cannot do radio as well?
I am still searching for something that can broadcast radio be it internet
radio or FM.

Just not flexible enough, and not really user friendly. The Sonos stuff is
obviously a lot more money, but suits my set up much better, and in terms
of
functionality is vastly superior to an Airport setup.
