I don't know about courses. Most of the private company ones seem to be
a way of soaking up redundancy money you know " change your life earn
=A31000pw in compters". etc. etc. a bit of a con.

Try the local TEC (training? enterprise? dont know) they deal with the
placing of young people in jobs and sort out the day release etc.=20

Also local schools are always short ot IT technicians and its worth
applying for these posts even if he does not meet the job spec. Nice
letter with the application etc.

Nothing like learning on the job.

I know this is OT but this list really is the font of all knowledge -:)
My middle lad is desperate to get a job in computing (PC support and
networks are his main interests). He has A level computing, but is
finding that its not enough to even get on the bottom ladder so he is
looking for more qualifications.
Having made some enquiries he is now being bombarded with details of
various courses (CompTIA A+ and N+, Cisco) from various training
companies who would want a lot of money from him -:(
Any advice on whether any of these courses are seen as useful to
prospective employers?=20
Also any feedback on training providers would be much appreciated.
TIA
John
