It obviously depends what bit of PC support he wants to get into. My
company employs around 60 engineers, and generally about 50% of those come
from the various IT training companies that more or less guarantee a
placement at the end of the course, which generally cost =A33-4k. The A+
i=
s
the qualification we look for, but in truth we pay more attention to the
attitude and customer-facing skills, as they are generally in shorter
suppl=
y
than qualified PC engineers.

Contact me off list if you like; depending where you live we have 6 or 7
positions open at the moment, though this is bottom of the ladder stuff,
although the money isn't bad for the better engineers.

In terms of the training providers, we work with Cerco more than anyone
else; the company itself is quite professional, and the calibre of their
trainees is generally good.

I know this is OT but this list really is the font of all knowledge -:)

My middle lad is desperate to get a job in computing (PC support and
networks are his main interests). He has A level computing, but is finding
that its not enough to even get on the bottom ladder so he is looking for
more qualifications.

Having made some enquiries he is now being bombarded with details of
variou=
s
courses (CompTIA A+ and N+, Cisco) from various training companies who
woul=
d
want a lot of money from him -:(

Any advice on whether any of these courses are seen as useful to
prospectiv=
e
employers?=20

Also any feedback on training providers would be much appreciated.

TIA

John
