Just beware that upgrading to firmware versions higher than 1.5 would make
your PSP unable to run any "homebrew" applications or games.
There is
apparently a loophole in v1.5 that is being exploited by people to load
unofficial software into the PSP.

Also in the same website somewhere, I read that the region coding is
stored in flash memory and is not affected by firmware upgrades.
