Your dialup issue is perhaps a problem with my solution, although you
could set the computer to dial automatically when needed, and check
that nothing makes it dial except IMDB lookups (although timeouts may
be an issue....)

Anyway, after many software trials our kitchenpc has ended up as a
windows media player machine, with an MP3 codec installed. It is
currently set so that it auto-rips cds, so as soon as a new disk is
inserted, the IMDB lookup hppens (broadband) and it rips the cd to a
network share, and then ejects it.

I have used a lot of ripping software, and I like WMP the best, its
very configurable, reliable, fast .....etc
