I had exactly the same initial problem - the xAP 'Method' was a bit
difficult to understand at first - Could do with some better docs really :)
But - once you've got your head around it, it is actually VERY simple...
All you need to do is install a xAP hub on each connected PC/Server etc.
This hub comes in two flavours (for Windows - there is a Linux one too I
believe) - the GUI version which runs as a discreet application - or the
service version which runs as a service (no GUI). For the service version,
there is also a separate GUI viewer if you need it (which will watch for
all messages on the network).
Once you have your hub installed, simply install the xAP application and
off you go... The application can be seen in the viewer. Now, on the same
network, when a xAP application sends a message - ALL the connected PC's
running a hub or xAP application will see that message.
Config wise - each app is different, some have GUI configs and some have
text file configs. xAP SB uses a mixture of web page based config and also
text file for the more advanced configurations.
This is what I have running on my system:
Server:
xAP Service hub
xAP TTS (Text to speech)
xAP SwitchBoard
xAP Tel - Kevin's app that supports modems, Skype and Meteors
PC's:
xAP SwitchBoard Outlook plugin
xAP service hub
xAP viewer (only run when needed)
xAP Desktop
HTH?
Paul.
