RE: NEC Smarthome show

That surprises me, as there were some notable exceptions from the SB show.
A
lot of the companies that were there last year didn't seem to be there this
time around....quite a few of the smaller TF co's were missing, and there
were no shutter manufactures (I only know that because that's something we
were looking for), whereas there were 3 stands last year. Design &
Materials were missing, and they've been regulars for years. At least they
didn't make the same mistake of scheduling on the same weekend as Crufts
again.

I think the reason that there were stands in the selfbuild show that really
should have been in the smarthome show was due to a couple of things. By
the
end of the Selfbuild 2004 show most exhibitors had rebooked for 2005, there
was as little as 10% of the stand space left by close of business on Sunday
PM 2004. This was before the Smarthome show was announced. When the SH show
was finally announced it was then a gamble to give up the selfbuild
standspace for new exhibition without knowing quite how well the new
exhibition would go. I'm waiting for feedback from the smartkontrols crowd
to see how the Smarthome stand went this year compared to previous years in
the selfbuild show and also to hear from Cedia as to their intentions for
the show next year.

I hope that those that were manning stands had a good show and that they
get
a couple of days to recover before having to get back into work!!
