If MCE turns out to be expensive, I have a Sony VAIO at the moment that has
a Media Server. I have not really looked into this so not sure if it will
do the same sort of thing as MCE

I'm not sure what the exact minimum specs are for MCE, but I they are
fairly
high.
If you're looking for a lower budget, perhaps software like the freeware
MediaPortal would be better - it doesn't require such a powerful PC.
If you still want to go the MCE route, you could do worse than check out
www.thegreenbutton.com, which is an MCE users community site.
