It was the bracket - the "lugs" on the backplate that located
into the
wall-mounting plate actually bent over and let the screen drop! The bracket
looked very cheap and nasty, and I would not have installed it if I had
seen
it first. The sort of funny thing is that this guy works in insurance
assessing, and his insurance company accused him of fraud initially as
apparently they have received a lot of similar claims from people they say
have a faulty or cheap plasma that "accidentally" falls to the
floor and can
only be replaced by a shiny new branded model.
Anyway he invited the independent insurance assessor around & it looks
like
everything will be covered but you can be sure that the next plasma will be
getting a seriously over engineered bracket with major fixings!!

So what actually failed to cause the plasma to fall?  the bracket, or the
fixings, or the wall?

Must've made a heck of a thwump when it hit the floor, and a big
mess....hope he had accidental damage on his house insurance...
