Re: Ebay findings

I advise some caution on the UPS auction as the seller contradicts=20
himself and gives bad (dangerous) advice.
He says the UPS passes all self tests and yet says it has no=20
batteries! One of the UPS power up self tests is a battery test.
He also says he "can demonstrate its performance without a
problem".=20=20
If you buy it, I would insist on a demo with batteries!

For some reason, he has sold the batteries separately. Buying=20
batteries from APC will cost an arm and a leg. Cost =A3520+vat (it=20
actually takes 2 off of the RBC12). You can buy batteries else where=20
much cheaper (from me for example) but I can't supply the battery=20
cables. You could make your own cables but that's time consuming.
I'd ask why the seller sold the batteries separately?

And the bad (dangerous) advice..... He says you can remove the=20
Commando plug and replace with a "normal plug". The UPS can
draw=20
20amps continuously and he's saying it's OK to connect a 13amp plug=20
and to plug it in to a normal mains supply!! Absolutely not safe.=20=20
It should be hard wired in to your fuse box (30amp supply) or 30amp=20
extension directly from fuse box.
