I believe that X10 is susceptible to high levels of random noise.  I had
one
particular bit of computer kit with a cheap & nasty switched mode power
supply.  Whenever I had it connected lights would sporadically come on
around the house.  Interestingly enough it would effect some lights a lot
more than other....

The problem seemed to get worse over time as well, and eventually I
replaced
the PSU.  It was fine for a few months but then deteriated again....
luckily I no longer have the device.
