X10 Lamp Module

Hi All,
Right - I have a question about X10 lamp modules.
In my lounge at home, I have a standing lamp that has its own dimmer
control
build into the stand and just a normal plug. If I use an X10 lamp module
will I be able to dim the light??
Am thinking that the dimmer on the lamp stand will have to be at its
brightes setting.
