Believe me, the wiring is basic.  Master socket in the hall way, then a
plug-in extension socket from that to the kitchen, then another plug in
extension from there to the bedroom.  Oddly, they have some crappy Morphy
Richards phone in the bedroom that doesn't cause any issues with the ADSL
link.  As soon as I unplug that, and plug in my laptop modem, or TiVo, the
ADSL link dies completely (and that's without actually doing anything on
TiVo or the modem).  The total REN count is no more than 2, so it doesn't
make a lot of sense.

I am only parroting what has been mentioned by others on this group
before, but check the telephone line sockets for more than one master
socket, ie more than one socket with a cap in the back, this I
believe has led to similar symptoms before...
