Darren,

It really depends on what you want from the system,

How big is the place you want to use it?
What size of effects?
Are you going to use a fogger?

Simple scanning can be done with a couple of small motors with mirrors
mounted on them
and a cheap laser diode pointer can produce nice effects in a small space.
Mounting mirrors onto a couple of old loudspeakers and generating tones
using a PC also gives good results.
With a laser pointer you WILL need some kind vapour or particles in the
atmosphere to see the aerial scans, but cheap smoke machines are now
readily
available.

If you want to go the DIY route, it's fun and you can learn a lot - but it
can also be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing - never ever
look
into the beam of the laser, especially watch out for reflections.

An old friend of mine now runs a laser display business
you could take a look at his site www.laservisulas.co.uk

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with lasers for home disco use? I'd
like to buy a green laser to produce walls and tunnels but am unsure
on the safety and where to start.

TIA
Darren
