Thanks Lee. I taught as much! So can I just buy a TiVo and subscribe to
sky or do I still need the Sky+ box for the sky card etc.?? If not then I
would have to run the Sky box into the TiVo and from there endless
possibilities!

Brian,
Yes, you are correct. By fitting a network card to a TiVo you can indeed
connect the TiVo to your network and then download TV programs to your PC's
hard drive, which can be watched on the PC or edited/burned to DVD. There
are many other well documented hacks that can be done to a TiVO, including
webservers so you can program the TiVo over the internet/your mobile phone,
making it download guide data over the internet, installing much bigger
hard
drives for 100's hours of recording, getting the TiVo to email you status
reports, the list goes on.
On the Sky+ front, currently you can only add a bigger hard drive, nothing
else is possible.

Sorry I should have been more clear. I don't have sky or a TiVo. I am
going to get Sky+. I know I can record with the Sky+ and the TiVo but I
belive you can save a copy of a recording from the TiVo box to your PC for
later etc. I may be wrong?? I just got the impression that's what you's
are doing from the forum. If I am right I was wondering is it possible to
do this with a Sky+ Box? So I don't really need a TiVo box! Basicly can
I
copy from the hardisk on a sky box to my PC.
Cheers
Brian

You already have the TiVo you mean?
Are you getting a plain Sky digibox or Sky+ box.
Sky+ will do the same job as TiVo. TiVo will record from Sky......
