It's not TiVo but then again, nothing else is.
I find it pretty easy to use - recording a program is a matter of just
highlighting it in the EPG and pressing record. You can then manually
fiddle
with the start and end times if you want.
It uses a standard 3.5" HD and will handle up to 137Gb so it's easy
enough
to upgrade if you wish and it records the incoming bitstream so the quality
is as good as you can get. It also has both optical and electrical digital
audio outputs as well as a "proper" s-video output on a Mini-DIN
connector.
You can also *RECORD* two different channels whilst you are watching
something you recorded earlier (if you want to).
Jo can use it so it must be pretty easy to get around.
Downsides that I've found with it (all are just down to being used to TiVo
I
reckon).
1) If you start watching something then hit "record" after five
minutes it
doesn't include the buffered show in the recording - it records from then
on
(this could be included in a software update as Thomson are still
developing
for this box).
2) Series links don't exist in the EPG (yet) - again this could be added in
a firmware update.
Hmmm ... I think that's about it.
