Marcus,
What I meant was that you should not add additional plastering to your
existing ceiling in the hope of improving the fire resistance.
This will not improve it, as it will just add extra weight which would
cause it to fail quicker.
However replacing it will one layer of suitable plasterboard (i.e. Gyprox
Fireline) will provide 30mins fire resistance.
