Can't answer the second part of your question but can confirm that the
Crucible supplied s/w is not necessary for general use with HomeSeer. I'm
just using a plugin that I downloaded from a link in the HomeSeer forum.
It logs numbers to the HS log and to a Meteor log. Also if I stick an
entry in the HomeSeer Phone address book it logs the call number and
caller's name.
The plugin was really easy to install and set up. I can't recall who's it
was, and i'm not at home just now to check. I know It wasn't Patrick
Lidstone's one as I read somewhere that it doesn't work with the latest
version of Meteor. I didn't try it to confirm tho'. HTH
