Richard,

Interesting idea.. I had thought of that but "assumed" that the
light would
flash on at full brightness momentarily... not very SWMBO friendly if it
does
it at 6am every morning. Now after you saying that I'm wondering if that
because of the soft start the, light won't have had time to actually come
on
before it received the "off" command.

I've just Remote Desktop'd into my home PC and set it up.. I'll see what
happen tomorrow morning :)
