Not where I'm looking to build it isn't :-( Gas is MORE expensive than
electricity!

Yup - if you can get mains natural gas for "mainstream prices"
then
gas is the was to go.

This is the downside of attempting to self-build in the middle of
what's basically a wilderness. But, heh, everything's with lawyers and
bueracrats at the moment, anyway, not with builders... and as Mark
McCall will tell you, it may therefore be some YEARS before the first
turf gets cut.
