The problem with colo is finding a providor who is happy to allow
you PSTNs or ISDNs (or indeed anything other than power and ethernet
and a few u of space) without absolutely taking the mick.
A couple of years back, the only colo solution I found in the UK
with the flexibility required that was less than an arm and a couple
of legs was Mailbox Internet at their "entry level" "data
centre".
It still looks pretty good value for money, inrelative terms.
The other possibility is to link up with a co-operative type
project, like http://www.crosswired.org.uk, who
have rack space and
bandwidth, and who are interested in community type projects.
UKHA Phone service...?
A "proper" asterix service would be much better run on
"proper"
connectivity rather than DSL, as DSL has all sorts of variability
and contention based issues that direct connections at ethernet dont
suffer from, or suffer to a much lessor degree. for VoIP, I'd
suggest there is benefit in this.
