Barclays charge a flat fee of =A320 to do a swift transfer, I don't know
if=
there is a limit, the most I have ever transferred is =A32000 and the Barc=
lays charge then was =A320.

If doing a swift transfer you need to be careful of charges at the
receivin=
g bank. One of the banks I transfer to charges a fixed percentage to
receiv=
e (can't remember how much, something like 2%) with a cap of ~=A310
dependi=
ng on exchange rates. So it doesn't cost anymore that =A330.

Cheers,

Rob

We were recently the recipient of a Lloyds/TSB SWIFT ransfer. The
Lloyds/T=
SB product was called the "Personal and Sole Traders International
Moneymov=
er application".

Cost was either 42 or 46 quid. This was to move a large wad of wonga, I
do=
nt know if its a percentage or fixed charge. However, I thought this was
q=
uite cheap, having once been threatened with a 75 quid charge for moving a
=
few hundred quid via SWIFT.

Another option is www.myus.com. There business is providing a US
pseudo-pr=
esence for non-US residents. They will write a US cheque, and bung it in
t=
he mail, and charge your credit card. As well as a few other really
useful=
things, but there is an annual charge, $120 IIRC.

But Western Union is the obvious choice. Go into any area where there are
=
lots of immigrants working in the UK, sending money home for the family,
an=
d you'll find two specialist shops - Western Union, and a cheap
internation=
al phone call booth place. This is very good business for both...
