External IDE Disks

I've run out of spaces for disks in my server. Rather than rebuild the
entire thing into a much bigger case can I mount some more IDE disks in a
spare case and use the power supply in that case - simply feeding the IDE
cable back to the main Server.

This is a "normal" thing for SCSI - but is IDE ok with the disk
being
powered from a different PSU to the host controller ?

I'd obviously keep the ide (ATA100) cable as short as possible.

Dean
