Remote-control SCART switcher

  • Subject: Remote-control SCART switcher

I am looking for a SCART switcher unit to connect up my Freeview box,
VCR and XBox to the TV (and also audio out through the stereo, but
that can be achieved with a separate splitter if the switch box
doesn't support it). I think I am looking for a remote-controlled
switch - I don't fancy having to get up to switch devices, and I'm not
convinced that an automatic unit would always do the right thing.

My research so far has produced 2 possibilities: the "6 channel
audio/video switcher hub" at GBP 29.99 from Maplin (product code
L63AB), or the "Joytech AV control centre" that was discussed on
this
list a few months back. Neither of these seem to offer switching 2
ways at once (i.e. recording from Freeview whilst playing on the XBox)
but apart from that they seem to offer everything I need.

Any experiences of these two units or alternatives would be welcome.
Also if anyone can recommend somewhere to buy the Joytech unit -
Play.com and gameplay.co.uk were mentioned in the earlier thread but
neither seem to have it in stock now.

Thanks,
David.
