Oh indeed.  Works like a charm.  I'm told there are commercial=20
dimmers available that use these chips, but I'm not aware of any=20
actual brands.  There are also other chip models available.  Don't=20
look at the LED lights or strange things will happen to your credit=20
card balance.

Its a one chip solution I rolled myself.

Generating DMX512 is easy using bit-banging; send a space for > 88uS=20
as the DMX frame separator, then the mark-after-space break of at=20
least 8us, then bitbang out a zero meaning "dimmer information=20
follows", then as many as 512 bytes of level information.
