I never actually got around to doing this but...

7.html (basically run linux from a bootable cd, resize the file
system, then the partition, reboot, use the free space as required).

Does windows xp need to be on the first partition? That could get
messy as you'll need to update grub / lilo with the new partition
information.

Usual disclaimers about making a backup first etc apply.
