RE: Router & WAP in one - good idea or bad?
I've only used 2 of the DSL-604+'s, but I wouldn't recommend them.
The first was duff, and fair enough, D-Link replaced it sharpish. However,
several features that it is supposed to support aren't properly implemented
(such as Multi-NAT, which I specifically wanted to allow more than 5
devices
to share the 5 static IP addresses I have). When I bought the thing, I had
to upgrade the firmware immediately because WEP simply didn't work.
Mine now acts as a WAP only, which it does perfectly well, and I use a
ZyXEL
Prestige 652R Security Router for the WAN. The great thing about this
router
is that it allows 3 internal subnets which solves the >5 devices to 5 IP
addresses issue very nicely.
