But whats the consequence of your home "not complying with building
regs"?

When I bought my last house, the survey said the wiring "did not
comply
with the latest regulations" because it had an old fuse box and not
the
newer RCD/MCBs. So what; big deal! Is it really going to matter that much
in the scheme of things?
